Corruption Eradication Committee Detains PT Blueray Owner After Customs Escape

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has now detained the owner of PT Blueray John Field (JF) for the next 20 days.

John Field known to have run away at the time KPK held a sting operation (OTT) regarding alleged import bribery within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance.

“After the investigation was completed, investigators detained JF for the first 20 days,” said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters, Sunday (8/2/2026). Budi explained that after escaping, John Field surrendered himself to the KPK.

Then, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) immediately investigated John Field as a suspect.

“During the investigation, JF was cooperative and provided the information needed by investigators,” he added.

John had time to run away

Previously, Acting Deputy (Plt) Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Asep Guntur Rahayu revealed that John Field had run away when the KPK carried out an OTT on Thursday (5/2/2026).

“Another time when our friends in the field were going to arrest us, JF’s brother ran away,” said Asep at a press conference, Thursday night.

Due to this incident, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) had planned to issue a letter preventing John Field from going abroad to avoid escape attempts.

In this case, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) has named six people as suspects in the alleged import corruption case within DJBC.

They are the Director of Action and Investigation at DJBC for the period 2024-January 2026, Rizal; Head of DJBC P2 Intelligence Subdirectorate Sisprian Subiaksono; as well as Head of DJBC Intelligence Section Orlando Hamonangan.

Apart from that, the Corruption Eradication Commission also named John Field as the owner PT Blueray; Andri as Chair of PT Blueray’s Import Documents Team; and Dedy Kurniawan as Operational Manager of PT Blueray as suspects.

All suspects were arrested at OTT in Jakarta and Lampung on Wednesday (4/2/2026).

The beginning of the case

The uncovering of the practice of importing counterfeit goods, aka KW, involving officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), has uncovered the dark veil of weak supervision at the country’s entry points.

The OTT carried out by the Corruption Eradication Committee revealed that there was an evil conspiracy between state officials and the private sector so that illegal goods could enter Indonesia without a physical inspection.

Asep said that the OTT started from reports of complaints from the public who were suspicious of the practice of conditioning import routes within Customs and Excise.
