Update 2.5 Brings Dual-Wielding and Console Mods to Night City
CD Projekt Red is releasing Update 2.5 for Cyberpunk 2077 on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, GameSpot reported. The studio timed the patch to coincide with the launch of the second season of the Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
The update introduces a new prequel gig titled “Clampdown,” which ties directly into the events of the anime’s second season, according to IGN. Players must complete “The Heist” and two gigs for Wakako to access the mission. Completing the quest unlocks a five-piece gear set modeled after the character King. The patch also adds a cozy mystery mission called “Night City Tours,” featuring a guided tour of the metropolis narrated by founder Richard Knight.
Dual-Wielding Playstyle Adds New Combat and Clothing Options
Combat receives a major overhaul with the introduction of a dual-wielding playstyle. Players can use the new “Double Trouble” perk in the Cool skill tree to wield a pair of revolvers or pistols simultaneously, complete with new Photo Mode poses.

Appearance upgrades accompany the gameplay changes. Alongside modified cyberware, players can collect clothing styles sourced from various vendors in Night City, with Maxiwear available in Heywood, Arroyo, and Little China; Jinguji available in City Center; NetWatch available in Kabuki and Japantown; and IconAmerica available in Pacifica, Badlands, and Northside. New clothing sets and hairstyles for both male and female V, a radio station playing Edgerunners music, and Quadra skins are available through Twitch Drops.
Console Mod Support and Technical Additions
Console players finally receive integrated mod support on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, allowing users to download curated player-created mods directly from the main menu, alongside a long-awaited Field of View (FOV) slider. Nintendo Switch 2 players will receive Update 2.5 a few days after the initial October 22 launch.

Technical updates bring support for DLSS 4.5—including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation and the 2nd Generation Transformer Model—on compatible hardware, alongside support for glasses-free 3D effects on Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors and MetalFX Frame Interpolation on Mac.
CD Projekt Red Streams First Episode of Edgerunners 2
To celebrate the debut of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix, CD Projekt Red hosted a series of free Twitch screenings for the anime’s first episode. The free preview was strictly limited to Episode 1, without VOD replays provided after the stream ended, and a separate free screening of the Japanese dub was announced by CD Projekt Red Japan. The 10-episode standalone follow-up focuses on an independent story featuring new characters, including a former legendary edgerunner named “Weak” who now lives without cyberware and a Nomad named “D” driven by revenge, dealing with core themes such as revenge, redemption, family, and legacy. Animation production returned via Studio TRIGGER, with Kai Ikarashi taking over as director, Ichigo Kanno joining as chief character designer, and screenwriters Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka rejoining the project.
