Fifteen billion crowns for one season of the series. Such a high amount has not been hear for a long time and probably will not be for a long time. The creators simply bet on quality. There are elaborate visual effects, costumes, cast and locations. And Nova is now bringing this project too Czech viewers.
Filming TV series used to be relatively cheap. Today, though, the situation is different, sometimes even absurdly different. In 2017, Amazon bought the rights to the famous fantasy world. He paid a quarter of a billion dollars for them. The first series, according to available sources, cost more than $715 million, which is roughly 15 billion in Czech crowns.
A bold step back into the past
Tolkien wrote books that are among the best fantasy literature has to offer. And Peter Jackson turned them into a movie trilogy at the beginning of the millennium, which is loved by whole generations. In total, there are three films, eleven Oscars and billions of dollars earned in theaters.
Jackson’s films have been seen by hundreds of millions of people and fans know them almost by heart. and then comes Amazon with the declaration that they will make a series from the same world. It automatically faces huge expectations. Simply, everyone will compare it to Jackson.

however, the creators from Amazon knew in advance what they where getting into. Therefore, they decided not to follow the same path. Rather of reshooting Frodo and his journey to Mordor, they moved the plot back three thousand years. Until Sauron wasn’t the villain you know from the movies.
But here a fundamental problem arose. Amazon did not acquire the rights to The Silmarillion. The creators mainly had at their disposal additions to The Lord of the Rings. So the result is that half of the stuff is from Tolkien and the othre half is made up.some names you know, some you don’t. Some events have a basis in books, others were sucked in by the screenwriters. And the fans are going crazy for it.

Some viewers criticized the show’s depiction of certain characters and elements, labeling concerns as “political correctness.” The casting of Ismael Cruz Córdova as the elf Arondir sparked notably harsh reactions, with some viewers expressing racist sentiments. Other points of contention included the portrayal of the dwarven princess Dísa, who did not have a beard despite Tolkien’s writings indicating dwarven women typically did. https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pán_prstenů:_Prsteny_moci
