Latvian Speaker Urges Persistent Reminder of Crimea’s Illegal Occupation

It is the duty of every European politician to relentlessly continue reminding the world about the illegal occupation of crimea, emphasized Daiga Mieriņa, Speaker of the Saeima, on Monday, November 24, at the parliamentary summit of the Crimean Platform in Stockholm, Sweden. The Speaker of the Saeima reminded attendees that we are all currently witnessing the militarization of the Crimean peninsula. Parliamentarians from around the world gathered in Stockholm today to participate in the 4th Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform.

“Today, each of us can be the “voice” of Crimea, continuing to shed light on human rights violations, illegal deportations, abduction of children, forced changes in the structure of the Crimean population, and repression against the Crimean Tatars,” said Mieriņa. She emphasized that the Baltic states understand the unpredictable and perilous nature of an aggressor,and will continue to persistently remind the world that Russia poses a constant threat to all.
