Mary Aylward (née Heffernan) Death Notice: Glenmore, Kilkenny

Mary Aylward (née Heffernan) of Glenmore, Kilkenny, passed away peacefully on Thursday, 23rd April 2026, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her loving family at her daughter Margaret’s home in Ferrybank, Waterford.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband James (Jimmy), her parents Andrew and Bridget Heffernan, her brothers Michael, Paddy, Jimmy, John, Bill, and Peter, and her sisters Biddy (Myles) and Nellie (Doherty).

She is survived by her children Margaret (Aylward Phelan), John, Frances (Rockett), and Claire (Power); sons-in-law Noel, Michael, and Martin; daughter-in-law Joan; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Eileen (Heffernan); nieces; nephews; extended family; friends; neighbours; and her dedicated carers.

Mary will be reposing at Power’s Funeral Home in Ferrybank on Friday from 4:30pm until 7:00pm. Her removal will accept place from her home on Saturday to St. James’s Church in Glenmore, arriving for Requiem Mass at 1:00pm. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

The family has requested that the house remain private at all times during this period.
