Delhi Dwarka Crash: Teen Driver’s Rash Driving and Aftermath

A tragic road accident in Delhi’s Dwarka area on February 3, 2026, resulted in the death of 23-year-ancient Sahil Dhaneshra. The incident, involving a speeding SUV allegedly driven by a minor, has sparked public outrage and raised questions about road safety and accountability. Recent CCTV footage and investigation details reveal a disturbing pattern of reckless driving leading up to the crash.

The Accident and Initial Response

According to Delhi Police, the accident occurred near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka South around 11:57 am. A police team responding to a PCR call found an SUV, a taxi and a motorcycle involved in a pile-up. Sahil Dhaneshra was pronounced dead at the scene due to catastrophic injuries. An FIR was registered at Dwarka South Police Station under Sections 281/106(1)/125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

CCTV Footage Reveals Reckless Driving

Newly surfaced CCTV footage shows the SUV, allegedly driven by a minor, overspeeding and losing lane control moments before the collision. The footage, captured near Lal Bahadur Shastri College, depicts the SUV narrowly missing a bus while traveling at high speed. Seconds later, the SUV collided with Sahil Dhaneshra’s motorcycle, resulting in his immediate death. News18 reported on the footage, highlighting the vehicle’s erratic movement.

Additional video footage, recorded from inside the SUV, shows the teenage driver speeding on a road without a divider, again narrowly avoiding a collision with a bus. This internal video further supports claims of reckless driving. Times Now News detailed the significance of this inside-car video as part of the ongoing investigation.

Autopsy Report Details Severe Injuries

An autopsy conducted on Sahil Dhaneshra revealed the extent of his injuries. The report confirmed severe brain trauma and multi-organ damage. Specifically, doctors recorded a massive subdural haematoma – bleeding between the brain and its outer covering – along with generalized brain trauma. Injuries were also noted to the spleen, liver, and chest, including multiple rib fractures and blood in the oesophagus and pharynx. The cause of death was determined to be haemorrhagic shock resulting from cranio-cerebral injury combined with multi-organ damage. CNBC TV18 provided a detailed report on the autopsy findings.

Legal Proceedings and Bail

The teenage driver has been granted interim bail due to his upcoming Class 10 board examinations. However, authorities have initiated action against the teenager’s father under the Motor Vehicles Act. Police have seized all vehicles involved, conducted mechanical inspections, and collected CCTV footage as part of the ongoing probe.

Eyewitness Accounts and Attempts to Shift Blame

Recent reports indicate that the accused minor and his sister were seen arguing with eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident, attempting to blame Sahil Dhaneshra for the crash and claiming he was driving at high speed. This attempt to deflect responsibility has further fueled public anger.
