Tata Motors Fires Head of Jaguar Design, Gerry McGovern
According to Autocar India, Jaguar Land rover (owned by Tata Motors) has fired head of design Gerry McGovern, effective instantly. McGovern was responsible for the new identity of the Jaguar brand as it transitions to the electric era and a more inclusive vision.
Neither Tata nor the JLR group have commented on the news.The decision comes a couple of weeks after the appointment of PB Bology (former finance director of Tata) as CEO of the Jaguar Land Rover Group, following the surprise resignation of Adrian Mardell. The replacement of McGovern could indicate TataS willingness to exercise greater control over the English manufacturer.
The “Pink Jaguar”
McGovern signed off on the new brand identity for Jaguar in view of its 100% electric future, focused on inclusion, which also includes the controversial concept Type 00. The actual lines of this car were designed by Massimo Frascella, who recently joined Audi, where he designed the Concept C presented in September.
