Audi Concept C: A Blend of TT and R8

The Audi Concept C has premiered at IAA 2025. This two-seater combines elements of the TT and R8, featuring compact sports car dimensions and a fresh design by Massimo Frascella. Notably, the hardtop is electrically retractable, the front incorporates the new “vertical frame,” and the interior is clear, reduced, and elegant. Interestingly, auto enthusiasts are drawing comparisons between the Concept C and the Jaguar Type 00. Frascella joined Audi in June 2024,previously spending twelve years at Jaguar Land Rover. Is the similarity between the Concept C and Type 00 merely coincidental?

Gerry McGovern,Chief Creative Officer at Jaguar Land Rover,is a designer who has been responsible for Land Rover’s highly successful design for years – later expanding to include Jaguar.Massimo Frascella was considered McGovern’s right-hand man – it’s no surprise that rumors suggest the initial sketches for the Jaguar Type 00 came from the Italian designer. This wouldn’t necessarily be a negative, as the Type 00 is an exciting design.

Jaguar Type 00: Good Look, Wrong Message

Like the Concept C at Audi, the Type 00 was intended to symbolize a restart for the Jaguar brand – but instead of enthusiasm, it has been met with ridicule. The public has rejected the overly “woke” advertising campaign. The featured individuals appear gender-neutral and gaze expressionlessly, even unfriendly, from their brightly colored clothing, reminiscent of a New York fashion influencer party. jaguar seemingly attempted to force modernity, and at all costs avoid appearing conservative. Jaguar’s marketing slogan developed for the Type 00, “Copy Nothing Delete Ordinary,” can be seen as either provocative or exceptionally hollow when applied to a wheeled, motorized vehicle from a customary British brand. The result is a significant advertising flop in recent automotive history – the responsible agency has since been dismissed.
