Newark Man Sentenced to Life Plus 50 Years for 2021 Murder of Dmajah Tickles
Wilmington, DE – February 16, 2026 – Tramont Mitchell, 39, of Newark, Delaware, has been sentenced to life in prison plus 50 years for the May 19, 2021, murder of 19-year-old Dmajah Tickles of New Castle. The sentencing took place on February 13, 2026, following Mitchell’s conviction by a Superior Court jury in 2024.
Mitchell was found guilty of First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He was convicted by a judge on a separate charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. The News Journal reported on the sentencing.

The fatal shooting occurred on May 19, 2021, on the 2300 block of Carter Street in Wilmington. Dmajah Tickles was fatally shot by Tramont Mitchell. The Delaware Department of Justice confirmed the details of the incident.
Following the shooting, the Wilmington Police Department launched an investigation, leading to Mitchell’s arrest at his Newark home on March 2, 2022.
