Dongmyung University Achieves QS 5-Star Rating and IEQAS Certification
Dongmyung University has received both the prestigious QS 5-Star rating and certification under the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), demonstrating its commitment to global standards in higher education. These achievements position the university as a growing force in international education and a trusted destination for international students.
QS 5-Star Rating
In November 2025, Dongmyung University was awarded the QS 5-Star certification at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific, held at Korea University [1]. This makes Dongmyung University the sole Korean university to achieve this distinction in the 2025 evaluation. The university received the highest 5-Star rating in five key areas: Teaching, Academic Development, Facilities, Employability, and Social Impact [1].
President Lee Sangcheon stated that the award signifies a “decisive turning point” for Dongmyung University in its journey to becoming a truly global university [1]. The university also achieved notable rankings in the 2025 QS World University Rankings (1401+ band) and the 2025 QS Asia University Rankings (901-950 band) [1].
IEQAS Certification
Dongmyung University was also certified under the 2025 Education Internationalization Ability Accreditation System (IEQAS), a joint evaluation by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice [2], [3]. The IEQAS evaluates universities on their internationalization strategy, foreign student selection and management, illegal residence rate management, and academic operation stability.
This certification provides several benefits, including streamlined visa processes for international students, priority consideration for government scholarships (GKS), and increased visibility at overseas Korean study fairs [3]. The Ministry of Education shares IEQAS certification information globally through the ‘Comprehensive Study Abroad System in Korea’.
Commitment to International Students
Dongmyung University has developed a comprehensive support system for international students, encompassing academic adaptation, living assistance, and career development [1]. The university offers specialized programs linked to local industries and tailored Korean language education to facilitate the successful integration and career planning of its international student body.
President Lee Sang-cheon emphasized the university’s dedication to international student education and global competency development, stating the university will continue to enhance its student-centered support system [1].
