Uncle Doug Hopkins, age 82 of Talbott, TN, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026 at Jefferson Park in Dandridge.

He was saved at the age of 14 and was also the longest living member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he handed out church bulletins for many years and was a faithful member until his declining health. Uncle Doug was known for his love of music, playing the piano, guitar, banjo, and french harp. He especially loved gatherings at the family farm.

He is preceded in death by W.M. “Bill” and Pearl (Knowling) Hopkins; his beloved dog, Jack; his siblings, Bobby Hopkins, Marshall “Doc” Hopkins, Virginia Greene, Bernard Hopkins, J.T. Hopkins, Coy Hopkins, and Ethel Hill; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard Hill, Esco Smith, Horace Greene, Louise Hopkins, Helen Hopkins, Margaret Hopkins, and Opal Cameron.

He is survived by sister, Sarah Smith; brother, Fred Hopkins; sister-in-law, Betty Hopkins; He was the uncle to 21 and great uncle to several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Jack and Joann Gray, and James and Sue Smelcer. Special thanks to Shirley Miller, Cody Kirby, and roommate Don Below of Jefferson Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Sartain Springs Missionary Baptist Church and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Hopkins and Rev. Don Holt officiating. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery.
