Driver Dies After Collision with Transformer Station in Drammen

A man was confirmed dead on Monday afternoon after driving into a transformer station in Mayor Ingebrigtsens gate at Marienlyst, Drammen.

“When the emergency services arrived, we found a person in the car.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was then started on the person concerned. Unfortunately, lives could not be saved,” says Geir Bodahl, head of the task force at the scene, to Drammens Tidende.

According to Bodahl, the accident was quickly assessed as serious. Authorities considered dispatching an air ambulance,but inclement weather prevented the helicopter from reaching Drammen.

Bodahl states that the transformer station sustained extensive damage. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. Police are working to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway and colliding with the station.
