Google Unveils Dreambeans: An AI-Powered App to Curate Daily Stories

Google Labs has launched an experimental app called Dreambeans, designed to use artificial intelligence to curate daily stories that connect users with what matters most. The app, available on iOS and Android, leverages Google’s latest AI capabilities, including Personal Intelligence and Nano Banana 2, to generate personalized content that aims to reduce the “endless scroll” of digital media.

How Dreambeans Works

With user permission, Dreambeans integrates data from Google apps such as Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, and Search history to create a finite collection of daily stories. These stories are tailored to spark new ideas and encourage users to engage with their surroundings. For example, a Gmail confirmation about a puppy treat delivery might trigger training tips, while a calendar reminder of a friend’s visit could lead to recommendations for dog-friendly restaurants.

Each story includes a unique illustration reflecting the user’s frequent activities and locations. Users can tap to dive deeper into topics, with the app also pulling information from the web to suggest actions, such as finding nearby dog parks or puppy training classes.

Privacy and User Control

Google emphasizes that Dreambeans operates with user consent, ensuring data privacy. The app does not require continuous engagement, offering instead a curated set of 10 to 14 stories per day. This design aims to combat digital fatigue by providing a structured, inspirational experience rather than an unending stream of content.

“The goal is not to scroll forever, it’s a finite collection of stories designed to spark new ideas and allow you to focus on what matters to you,” the company states in its official blog post.
