Dublin Singer Madison Lauren Reflects on ‘Star Search’ Run, Prepares for Stage Return

Dublin, CA – Eleven-year-old Madison Lauren, a rising star known both as Madison Manlapaz and by her stage name, Madison Lauren, has spoken about her experience as a finalist on Netflix’s competition show, “Star Search.” Despite not winning the $500,000 prize, awarded to magician TJ Salta on February 17th, Lauren expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the support she received.

From Local Talent to National Stage

Lauren, who has been singing since she was 1.5 or 2 years old, captivated audiences on “Star Search,” winning the Juniors Music category to secure a spot in the overall finals. Her performances resonated with both viewers and judges, including Jelly Roll, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chrissy Teigen. As reported by the Pleasanton Weekly, Lauren shared, “Ever since I was 6 years old, I’ve said that I wanted to sing for the world. Four and a half years later, I was able to sing on Netflix’s ‘Star Search’.”

Lessons Learned and Continued Passion

Whereas being voted off during the finale was initially disappointing, Lauren emphasized the importance of growth and learning over winning. “But I learned that love isn’t based on winning,” she stated. “Everyone was still proud of me and that helped me understand that growing and learning is more important than a title.” Her principal at Brave Christian Elementary, Tara Brown, praised Lauren’s talent, poise, and the joy she brought to audiences. Brown told the Weekly, “Watching her compete…we were all so proud—not just of her talent, but of her poise, her confidence and the joy she spread through her voice for the world to hear.”

Beyond Singing: A Multi-Talented Performer

Lauren’s talents extend beyond singing. She is also a songwriter, ventriloquist, and plays piano, guitar, and ukulele. She describes music as an integral part of her life, stating, “I consider music has always been part of me. I don’t even remember a time when I didn’t love singing.”

What’s Next for Madison Lauren?

Lauren is now preparing for her next performance in “Matilda The Musical JR.” from March 5-7 at the Brave Church auditorium in Dublin. She remains focused on her goal: “to share my voice and my heart with people everywhere. I want people to feel encouraged, hopeful, and maybe even a little braver when they hear me sing.”

Local Dance Team Also Shines on ‘Star Search’

Xtreme Force Dance Company of Livermore, a youth dance team comprised of eight members aged 9 to 14, also competed on “Star Search” as “The Force,” performing acrobatic-inspired dance. Co-owner Ashley Firestone expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, calling it “the biggest thing we’ve ever done.” Dancers Victoria Nichols, 13, and Calisa Schwarer, 14, and Annabella Maugeri, 13, all reflected on the valuable experience and personal growth gained from participating in the competition.
