Amateur Footballer Dropped From Team After Horrific Tackle

A player for vv Doetinchem has been removed from the team’s roster following a dangerous tackle during a match against Harfsen last weekend. The incident, which has gone viral, prompted swift action from the club and its coach, Vincent Selhorst.

Immediate Dismissal

“I told him immediately that I never want to see him again. Get out and stay out,” Selhorst stated in an interview with De Gelderlander. Selhorst was initially under the impression the tackle was from behind, but a video review revealed a more severe infraction. “I thought it was a tackle from behind, but when I saw the footage, I was shocked. It was even worse. I won’t accept something like that.”

Limited First-Team Experience

The player typically does not feature in the first team but was given an opportunity due to a shortage of available players. Despite this, Selhorst made it clear that the player’s actions were unacceptable. “I told him immediately that I never want to see him again. Get out and stay out. I’m very clear about that. I’m still furious,” Selhorst added. He also addressed the team after the match, noting their shared frustration as the club continues to face scrutiny following previous incidents.

Club History of Disciplinary Issues

This incident comes after vv Doetinchem recently received three red cards in a single match, which ultimately led to the game being abandoned. Selhorst acknowledged a recent shift in the team’s dynamic. “For a year and a half, we received compliments on our positive football. In recent weeks, it’s gone wrong. I have a very fierce team that plays on the edge. Football-related cards are part of that. But we shouldn’t receive cards for violence or insulting the referee,” he explained to De Gelderlander.

Lack of Sympathy

Selhorst expressed no sympathy for the player, stating, “He should have thought about that beforehand, due to the fact that everything is recorded these days. No one is protected.” The player has reportedly been receiving criticism from friends, family, and colleagues regarding the tackle, which has now circulated widely online.
