Ryanair Co-Founder’s Restored Irish Village Hits the Market for €20 Million

The Village at Lyons, a meticulously restored historic estate in Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland, has been listed for sale with an asking price of €20 million (approximately $22.9 million), as of March 18, 2026. The 20-acre property, currently operating as a luxury boutique spa resort, offers a unique opportunity for investors seeking a flagship leisure destination or a long-term heritage investment.

A Passion Project Brought to Life

The Lyons estate, encompassing 600 acres, was initially acquired in the 1990s by Tony Ryan, the co-founder of Ryanair. Ryan dedicated himself to the restoration of the village, which had fallen into disrepair, including an old flour mill destroyed by fire in 1904. As David Byrne, managing director of Lisney Sotheby’s International Realty, explained to Mansion Global, the restoration became “his life’s passion.”

From Ruins to Resort

The Village at Lyons has its roots in the late 18th century as a milling village established alongside the Grand Canal. Following Ryan’s extensive restoration work, the property was purchased in 2016 by financier Barry O’Callaghan, who continued its development. The original mansion on the estate remains in private ownership. The Irish Times reports the asking price equates to €4,841 per square meter.

Property Details

The estate features a variety of accommodation options, including 47 bedrooms distributed across apartments, four lodges, and 12 cottages. Recreational facilities include a 120-seat dining hall, an event space, a bar, a club room, a coffee shop, a garden room, a spa, and a Victorian-style conservatory, all set within landscaped gardens. Lisney Sotheby’s International Realty is handling the sale, with David Byrne as the representative.
