EHC Visp Secures Playoff Victory Over EHC Basel, 3-0
EHC Visp defeated EHC Basel 3-0 in Game 3 of their playoff quarterfinal series. The Valaisans dominated the game, limiting Basel’s offensive opportunities.
Game Recap
Basel made a lineup change with Nater replacing Häfliger on defense. For Visp, Adam Brodecki made his debut, taking the place of Olson. Visp was without Forrer and Meile, fielding only six defensemen.
First Period: Visp Takes Control
Visp started strongly, putting early pressure on Basel and controlling possession. Forrer scored the opening goal at 4 minutes, deflecting a shot from Steiner. Basel’s Bachofner made a key save against Brüschweiler, preventing a quick 2-0 lead. Liniger recorded Basel’s first shot on goal around the eight-minute mark. Visp extended their lead to 2-0 with less than a minute remaining in the period, as Brodecki assisted Nilsson, who set up Forrer for his second goal. A potential Basel goal by Kummer was reviewed and ultimately disallowed, maintaining the 2-0 score.
Second Period: Henauer Keeps Basel in the Game
Before the second period, Basel’s Supinski discussed the disallowed goal with the referees. However, Visp continued to control the play. Henauer, Basel’s goaltender, made 18 saves in the second period, but was unable to prevent Visp from increasing their lead to 3-0. Lurati scored after an unfortunate turnover by Aeschlimann. Guggenheim made a crucial save to prevent a fourth goal.
Third Period: Basel Fails to Mount a Comeback
Basel showed more energy in the final period but struggled to create clear scoring chances due to Visp’s strong defense. A timeout and the removal of Henauer for an extra attacker did not change the outcome.
