Bank Indonesia Launches 2026 New Banknote Exchange Ahead of Eid al-Fitr

Bank Indonesia (BI) has initiated its 2026 new banknote exchange program, known as Serambi (Semarak Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idulfitri), in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr. The program aims to ensure the availability of clean and fit banknotes for the public during the holiday period.

Program Details

The banknote exchange service spans 2,883 locations, encompassing a total of 8,755 service points operated by BI and commercial banks throughout Indonesia [1]. A total of Rp185.6 trillion in cash has been prepared for circulation, with Rp8.6 trillion specifically allocated for the exchange service.

Exchange Limits and Reservations

Individuals can exchange up to Rp5.3 million per package per day [1]. Prior reservation through the Pintar BI app is required before visiting any exchange location [1].

Regional Schedules

Jambi Region: Mobile cash units operated from February 18 to 26, 2026, at locations including Mesjid Nurdin, Mesjid Agung Alfalah, Mesjid Ar-Roudoh, Mesjid Baitun Nur Darlis, and Museum Siginjai [1]. Reservations for the next period opened on February 27, 2026, at 08:00 WIB. Banking counter services were available at BSI KCU Gatsu, BSI KCP Sipin, and BSI KC Pattimura on February 26, 2026. All mobile cash units in Jambi operated from 09:00 to 12:00 WIB [1].

Cirebon-Kuningan Area: The exchange schedule runs from March 2 to 13, 2026, through mobile cash units and bank counters [1]. Mobile units are scheduled to visit Masjid Syiarul Islam in Kuningan on March 2, 2026, and Masjid Nurul Amal Perumnas in Cirebon City on March 10, 2026 [1].

BI Operational Adjustments for Eid Holiday

Bank Indonesia has announced operational adjustments for the Eid al-Fitr holiday period of 1447 Hijri/2026, from March 18 to March 24, 2026 [3]. Services including BI-RTGS, BI-SSSS, BI-ETP, and SKNBI will be closed during this time. Cash services, rupiah monetary operations, and foreign exchange monetary operations will similarly be suspended [3].

Continued Services

The Bank Indonesia Quick Payment (BI-FAST) service will remain fully operational during the national holidays and Eid al-Fitr collective depart [3]. Normal operational activities will resume on March 25, 2026 [3].

BI Rate Remains Steady

Bank Indonesia has maintained the BI-Rate at 4.75% to maintain stability and strengthen economic growth [2].
