Indonesia to Implement Nationwide One-Way Traffic System for Eid al-Fitr Return Flow

Jakarta – Indonesia will implement a nationwide one-way traffic system starting Monday, March 24th, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time (WIB) to manage the anticipated surge in traffic as travelers return to Jakarta following the Eid al-Fitr holiday, according to National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho Jakarta Globe.

Traffic Flow and Route Details

The one-way system will initially span from Kilometer 263 to Kilometer 70 of the Cikampek Utama Toll Road. It will then extend from Kilometer 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Road to Kilometer 70 of the Cikampek Utama Toll Road. Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho indicated the policy was directly overseen by the Chief of Police and several Ministers Indonesian National Police.

Anticipated Traffic Volume and Extension of Policy

Authorities anticipate a high volume of vehicles returning to Jakarta, with peak homecoming flow reaching 270,000 vehicles per day. Currently, approximately 43% of travelers have returned to Jakarta Indonesian National Police. The one-way system may be extended until March 26th, 2026, based on real-time traffic conditions. Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho advised motorists not to concentrate their travel on March 24th to avoid congestion around Kilometer 70 towards Jakarta Indonesian National Police.

Preparation and Outreach

The National Police Traffic Corps began outreach efforts on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, to inform the public about the preparations for the one-way system Indonesian National Police. The Corps has also prepared various traffic management policies to mitigate congestion Indonesian National Police.
