Elon Musk’s chatbot, Grok, acknowledged on Friday that failures in its safety measures resulted in the generation of “images depicting minors in minimal clothing” on X, the social media platform. The chatbot, developed by Musk’s company xAI, has been producing a surge of sexualized images this week in response to user requests.Users shared screenshots on X showing Grok’s public media tab filled with these images. xAI stated it is working to enhance its systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“There are isolated cases where users prompted for and received AI images depicting minors in minimal clothing,” Grok said in a post on X,responding to a user. “xAI has safeguards, but improvements are ongoing to block such requests entirely.”

“As noted, we’ve identified lapses in safeguards and are urgently fixing them-CSAM is illegal and prohibited,” xAI posted to the @Grok account on X, referencing Child Sexual Abuse Material.

Over the past few days, numerous X users have prompted Grok to create sexualized, nonconsensual AI-altered images, sometimes removing clothing from individuals without their permission. Musk himself reposted an AI photo of himself in a bikini on Thursday, accompanied by cry-laughing emojis, seemingly acknowledging the trend.

According to posts from the chatbot, Grok’s generation of sexualized images appeared to lack adequate safety controls, leading to minors being featured in images of people, predominantly women, wearing scant clothing. in a reply to a user on Thursday, Grok suggested that most instances could be avoided through more sophisticated filters.
