Emily in Paris is back for a fifth season on Dec. 18 confirming dreams do come true during the holiday season.

This time around, Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins) steps into a new role as head of Agence Grateau’s satellite office in Rome. And with her new setting comes more mood board-worthy glam.

PEOPLE spoke to the Netflix’s hit series’ makeup department head Aurélie Payen and Mike Desir, lily Collins’ hairstylist for the series, about Emily’s inspirational glam.

Payen, who has worked with Collins since the start of the series, shares that when it comes to Emily’s makeup, “There’s been a real evolution in emily’s character over the five seasons.”

“In season one, she was trying to find her path and her voice in a new city and a new life. at the time, we emphasized her lip looks, which gave her a sense of power and presence; she was vocal, expressive, and still defining herself. Then she began experimenting more, playing with new ideas to blend into Parisian culture and fashion.”
