Erie Anime Fest Brings Voice Actors and Cosplay to the Ambassador Center

The Erie Anime Fest returns for its fall convention season on Saturday, Oct. 10, bringing celebrity voice actors, video game tournaments, and a cosplay contest to the Ambassador Center at 7794 Peach St. Tickets cost $20 for adults, with the event running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voice actors from Naruto and Evangelion will appear

Industry professionals scheduled to appear include voice actors Catero Colbert, Tiffany Grant, and Wendee Lee. Colbert is known for voicing Killer Bee and Darui in Naruto Shippuden, alongside work in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Grant’s voice acting career spans more than 20 years, featuring her role as Asuka Langley Soryu in ADV Films’ dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion, as well as parts in One Piece and Fullmetal Alchemist. Lee’s credits include Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop and Kei in Akira, along with voice roles in Dragon Ball and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Adult admission costs 20 dollars

Admission is $20 for adults. Autographs and photo opportunities with the celebrity guests can be purchased on-site only, with prices varying by guest. Attendees may also bring personal items from home for the guests to sign. Separate entry fees apply for video game tournaments hosted in a dedicated gaming area during the convention.

Cosplay contest judges focus on craftsmanship

The convention features a cosplay contest for participants of all skill levels, with judging focused heavily on craftsmanship. Competitors can enter for Best in Show, Best Craftsmanship, Best Group, Best Performance, and Best Youth Cosplay. Contestants are encouraged to bring “build books” and in-progress photos for the judges to review. On-stage recognition goes to both the costume wearer and the maker, if present. Registration runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the competition begins at 4 p.m.

Artist Alley and Vendor Offerings

Exhibitors offer manga, anime-based products, video games, apparel, toys, and candy for sale. Erie-based artists specializing in manga and comic illustration also sell their work in the Artist’s Alley. A compilation of anime openings and endings plays for visitors, followed by panels featuring anime trivia, music videos, and a lip-sync battle.
