EU Launches Commission to Address Social Media’s Impact on Youth

Brussels, Belgium – An expert commission convened by the European Union to explore potential restrictions on social media access for young people began its work on Thursday. The commission, initiated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, will focus on safeguarding children and adolescents from the risks associated with platforms like Instagram and Snapchat.

Addressing Addiction and Harmful Content

France, Denmark, and Spain have either announced or implemented measures to restrict social media access for young people.
