Explosions Reported in Kharkiv: Residential Areas Targeted
Kharkiv, Ukraine – February 3, 2024 – Multiple explosions were reported in Kharkiv overnight, beginning around 00:30 local time. Initial reports indicate strikes impacted both the city itself adn surrounding suburban areas, causing damage to private residences.
Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that two missile strikes occurred: one in a suburb near the city and another within the Saltovsky district. Subsequent explosions were reported in the Nemyshlyansky district, with authorities continuing to assess the extent of the damage.
“More explosions were heard in Kharkiv,” stated Oleg Sinegubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (KhOVA). “According to preliminary information, the Nemyshlyansky district of the city was under attack. More detailed information is being clarified.”
prior to the explosions, monitoring channels and the Ukrainian Air Force issued warnings regarding incoming missiles and high-speed targets directed towards the city.
As of 00:54 local time, Mayor Terekhov reported damage to private houses consequently of the strikes. Currently, there are no confirmed reports of casualties.
This incident follows recent reports of significant infrastructure damage in Kharkiv, including the destruction of CHPP-5 on February 3rd, which left over 100,000 residents without heating.Investigations are ongoing to determine the full impact of the latest attacks.
