Havasupai Falls Permits: What to Know for the 2026 Season

Planning a trip to Havasupai Falls requires careful preparation, especially when it comes to securing permits. The Havasupai Tribe manages access to this stunning natural wonder and demand is high. Here’s a comprehensive guide to navigating the permit process for the 2026 season, including pricing, important dates, and new policies.

Permit On-Sale Date and Pricing

Permits for 2026 will go on sale February 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Arizona time. The pricing structure remains consistent with the previous year:

• Campground Permits: $455 per person for a 3-night reservation.
• Lodge Permits: $2,277 for a 3-night reservation (allows up to 4 people per reservation).

Early Access Option

An early access window is available from January 21-31, 2026, but comes with an additional fee:

• Campground Permit (Early Access): $495 per person (includes a $40 early access fee).
• Lodge Permit (Early Access): $2,437 per reservation (includes a $160 early access fee).

Cancellation Policy

The Havasupai Tribe has a specific cancellation policy:

• Cancellations made at least 90 days before the permit start date are eligible for a 50% refund of the permit fee (excluding any early access fee).
• Cancellations within 90 days of the permit start date are non-refundable.

Even if you cancel within the 90-day window, the tribe requests that you cancel your reservation online through your tourist account to free up the space.

Important Policy Changes

The Havasupai Tribe has discontinued the permit lottery and permit transfer board. The new cancellation policy, allowing partial refunds with sufficient notice, is a significant change.

Potential Alternative Trip Leader (PATL)

The Havasupai Tribe strongly encourages designating a Potential Alternative Trip Leader (PATL) when making a reservation. The PATL must be added at the time of booking and can check in and present identification in place of the original reservation holder.
