Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support F-35 fighter squadron training for the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) in Nyutabaru, Japan. This long-term deployment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the mission readiness of a key ally while working with cutting-edge simulation technology.

Role and Responsibilities

The Lead Flight Simulator Systems Administrator will be a vital part of the Lockheed Martin training team, providing technical and operational support for the electronic and mechanical devices used in F-35 flight simulation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting complex IT problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date simulator documentation, including drawings, instructions, parts lists, and software listings.
  • Performing and documenting preventative maintenance checks on simulation devices and subsystems.
  • Assisting with equipment modifications and installations.
  • Maintaining simulation devices to meet availability specifications.
  • Applying technical knowledge to interpret design drawings, manuals, and simulator documentation.
  • Installing, testing, and maintaining F-35 software packages.
  • Identifying and reporting malfunctions and discrepancies.
  • Managing multi-user computer systems, including account setup, system documentation, performance optimization, software installation, and storage management.
  • Implementing and supporting Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs, and policies.
  • Complying with site security and access control procedures.
  • Sanitizing classified media according to F-35 and customer procedures.
  • Maintaining cabling schemes and drawings.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Final Transferable Secret security clearance with a Periodic Reinvestigation within the last six years and the ability to attain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access. A current Security+ certificate is required, or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience interacting with multiple functional areas and personnel from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge and experience with simulation hardware and software.
  • Aptitude and ability to mentor and grow other team members.
  • Ability to read and utilize technical schematics, drawings, and manuals for problem-solving.
  • Willingness to support flexible work hours to align with customer operational schedules.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with F-35 Training Devices, specifically the Full Mission Simulator (FMS) and/or Mission Rehearsal Trainer (MRT).
  • Network troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  • Experience working in classified/access-controlled facilities.
  • System administration experience with Windows and/or Linux server environments.
  • Experience with disaster recovery methods, cloning, and backup solutions.
  • Experience with Hyper-V, deploying VHDs, and virtual computing.
  • Experience with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and file shares.
  • Knowledge of military publications and an understanding of fourth and/or fifth-generation aircraft training operations.
  • Previous experience coordinating with program SMEs, engineers, and field service technicians.

Deployment Details

This position is a long-term deployment to Nyutabaru, Japan, supporting the JASDF. Accompanied status is available for qualifying dependents. The role may require flexible work schedules, rotating shifts, and work in excess of 40 hours per week, as it directly supports a deployable F-35 fighter squadron.
