Fadli Zon Defends Appointment of Gusti Tedjo as Executor of Surakarta palace
Jakarta – Gerindra party politician Fadli Zon has defended the appointment of Gusti Tedjo as Executor of the Preservation and Utilization of the Surakarta Palace (Keraton Surakarta), stating the decision was made after extensive discussion between multiple government agencies.
According to Zon, the appointment was agreed upon not only by the Ministry of Culture, but also the Ministry of Home affairs, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Tourism, and even the Indonesian National Police, alongside other relevant institutions. “We have agreed to appoint a person in charge,” he stated.
Zon emphasized the necessity of having a designated individual responsible for managing funds allocated for the palace’s preservation, whether from the city (APBD), provincial (APBD), or national (APBN) budgets. “It can’t be given to individuals. So someone has to be appointed responsible,” he explained.
Beyond administrative duties, Zon expressed hope that Gusti tedjo will be able to mediate ongoing internal disputes within the Surakarta Palace family. These disputes arose following the death of SISKS pakubuwana XIII Hangabehi, with his two sons both claiming succession to the throne. zon believes gusti Tedjo, also known as Panembahan Agung Tedjowulan, will facilitate dialogue and consensus among family members.
However, the appointment has faced some opposition. GKR Panembahan Timoer Rumbai, representing the PB XIV Purbaya version of Sasana Wilapa, has stated that their group was not consulted regarding the decree.
During a recent event, Fadli Zon affirmed that Panembahan Agung tedjowulan is currently the leader of the Surakarta Palace.
