Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Roller Coaster to Launch at Universal Studios in 2026
Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to launch its first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, in summer 2026. A similar attraction is also planned for Universal Studios Florida, slated to open in 2027, replacing the existing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster [1].
A High-Octane Experience
The coaster, manufactured by Intamin, will feature spinning cars themed after iconic vehicles from the Fast & Furious film franchise, including a Dodge Charger, Mazda RX-7, Nissan Skyline GT-R, and Toyota Supra [4]. Each train will accommodate 16 riders in a 2×2 configuration with lap-bar restraints [1].
Technical Specifications
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will span 4,100 feet (1,200 meters) and reach speeds of 72 mph (116 km/h) [1]. The ride utilizes a linear synchronous motor (LSM) launch system and features four inversions [1]. The cars are designed to rotate 360 degrees, simulating the drifting action seen in the films [4].
From Concept to Reality
Rumors of a Fast & Furious-themed coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood began circulating in May 2022 [1]. The attraction is being built on the site previously occupied by the Animal Actors on Location and Special Effects Stage shows [1]. Testing of the Hollywood installation is currently underway [1].
What to Expect
The ride is designed to mimic the action-packed chase scenes from the Fast & Furious movies, offering a high-speed, thrilling experience. The display building is themed as a warehouse with vibrant mural artwork [4]. The attraction is expected to run approximately two minutes in length [4].
Universal Studios Hollywood has released footage of the new ride vehicles [3] and is promoting the coaster as a key attraction for 2026 [2].
