Mobile Blood Drive Surpasses Expectations in Andelot

Fifty-two people turned out to donate blood at a mobile collection in Andelot on October 21, easily surpassing the initial forecast of 36 donors, reported. The turnout yielded 50 collected blood pouches at the village’s salle des fêtes, including contributions from two first-time donors.

Etablissement Français du Sang Welcomes High Turnout

Dr. Peggy Cygler, departmental head of collection at the Etablissement français du sang (EFS), expressed satisfaction that the turnout exceeded projections and noted that regular donors returned for the event. Despite the strong numbers, Dr. Cygler emphasized that recruitment efforts must continue across the region. Officials noted that in addition to mobile sessions, the permanent collection site in Chaumont at 35 avenue des États-Unis operates on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with appointments available through the official EFS appointment portal.

Volunteer Association Cites Digital Scheduling Benefits

Pascal Ragot, president of the local voluntary blood donation association for the Rognon valley and head of the departmental federation in Haute-Marne, highlighted the role of digital scheduling during the drive. It is 3 p.m. and we have eight donors present, but in reality, we already have fifteen because seven have booked via the EFS link, which is not, it is true, very heavily used for small collections, Ragot said. He noted that for larger drives, advance bookings help organizers adjust staffing levels for both medical teams and volunteers. Ragot characterized the drive as excellent despite inclement weather and difficult parking conditions that discouraged residents from going out.

Upcoming Collection Scheduled for January 2027

Following the successful Andelot session, organizers have scheduled the next regional mobile blood collection for Thursday, January 7, 2027. The upcoming drive will run from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the salle des fêtes in Manois.
