Finnish commercial drone operator Flyby Guys launched Drone Assistant on droneassistant.com, a compliance platform designed to translate official aviation regulations into structured, citable answers for international operators, according to reports from UAS Weekly. The launch coincides with the release of the Drone Regulation Index 2026, which compares regulatory frameworks across 31 markets.
Simplifying Cross-Border Drone Compliance
Commercial drone operations frequently cross national borders, forcing operators to navigate disparate rules issued by national aviation authorities, regional frameworks such as EASA, and local geographical-zone data. Researching these requirements traditionally requires manual cross-referencing across multiple official websites and guidance documents.
Drone Assistant addresses this friction by allowing users to submit plain-English questions about proposed operations. The platform returns answers paired with direct citations to underlying regulatory text, enabling pilots and compliance teams to verify the source material independently. Behind the interface, the software converts authority guidance into versioned requirements tied to specific jurisdictions and operation types while monitoring source documents for regulatory changes.
The platform is designed to provide regulatory information rather than direct flight clearance or airspace authorization. The system explicitly declines to guess when available evidence is insufficient to answer a query with confidence.
Target Audiences and Operational Origins
Drone Assistant targets international commercial drone operators, enterprise drone programs, Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) and Specific Category operators, autonomous and drone delivery companies, and organizations expanding into new jurisdictions. UAS consultants and compliance teams also form part of the platform’s user base.
The product grew out of the operational challenges Flyby Guys faced while supporting international drone projects. Stephen Sutton, CEO of Flyby Guys, noted that navigating differing national rules often proves more difficult than flying the aircraft itself. Sutton stated that the team built the platform to provide the underlying regulatory structure they wished they had when starting international operations.
Global Regulatory Benchmarking in the 2026 Index
The launch of Drone Assistant accompanies the publication of the Drone Regulation Index 2026, a research initiative by the Flyby Guys team evaluating regulatory environments across 31 markets. Austria and Latvia tied for the highest overall score at 83.6, followed by Poland, Germany, and Ireland.
Thirty of the 31 evaluated markets met the index’s evidence and coverage criteria for inclusion in the final ranking. Scaling Operations with Enterprise Software
In addition to regulatory assistance, Flyby Guys has expanded its software offerings to address enterprise operational demands. The company launched FlybyOps, an enterprise software platform designed to help organizations manage fleets, personnel, flight logs, risks, and compliance for large-scale BVLOS and autonomous missions.
FlybyOps builds on the foundation of DroneBundle, an internal tool introduced by Flyby Guys in November 2025 to replace fragmented spreadsheets and messaging apps with a unified mission-planning environment. As organizations transition from a small number of drone missions to hundreds of routine BVLOS operations, FlybyOps provides role-based access, multi-project oversight, and structured audit trails to handle increasing operational complexity.
