Amazon’s New Fire TV Stick HD Brings Alexa+ to Streaming
Amazon has launched the new Fire TV Stick HD, bringing its AI-powered assistant, Alexa+, to a more affordable streaming device. The Fire TV Stick HD is available for preorder now and began shipping on April 29, 2026.
Alexa+ Enhances Streaming Experience
Alexa+ is a generative AI assistant designed to go beyond basic voice search. It allows users to have conversations about what to watch, ask questions about actors on screen, and skip directly to specific scenes within Prime Video content. Full access to Alexa+ is included with an Amazon Prime membership, while non-Prime customers can subscribe for $19.99 per month.
New Fire TV Lineup and Enhanced Features
Alongside the Fire TV Stick HD, Amazon has also released new Fire TV 2-Series, 4-Series, and Omni QLED TVs. These models feature sleeker designs, improved performance, and Omnisense technology, which provides intelligent experiences across various screen sizes and price points. The Omni QLED Series, available in sizes from 50″ to 75″, starts at $479.99 and offers a display that is 60% brighter than previous models, with nearly double the local dimming zones for enhanced contrast.

Direct Power and Slimmer Design
The new Fire TV Stick HD introduces “Direct Power,” allowing users to plug the device directly into a TV’s HDMI port and connect it to a USB port for power, eliminating the need for a separate power outlet. The stick is also approximately 30% narrower than the previous Fire TV Stick HD, making it Amazon’s slimmest streaming device to date.
Fire TV Stick 4K Models Also Available
For those seeking higher resolution streaming, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max has been discounted to under $40 at Amazon.
Looking Ahead
Amazon continues to expand its Fire TV ecosystem, with almost 300 million devices purchased worldwide and over 250 televisions launching this year. The introduction of Alexa+ and features like Direct Power demonstrate Amazon’s commitment to improving the streaming experience and simplifying home entertainment.
