Fresh Video Series Launches on International Women’s Day to Address Women’s Health Concerns
A new video series, “Doctor, what about that?”, is set to launch on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2026, aiming to provide women with accessible and reliable medical information. The collaboration between Flair, Dragonfly in Margriet, and medical specialists seeks to combat the growing prevalence of misinformation online and address the historical underrepresentation of women in medical research.
Addressing a Gap in Medical Knowledge
The video series will feature short, informative videos where medical experts answer frequently asked questions from women. Topics will cover a range of health concerns, including hormones, heart health, menopause, and mental well-being. This initiative recognizes that medical research has historically focused on men, leading to a lack of understanding of how conditions manifest differently in women and the unique health challenges they face.
Expert Collaboration for Reliable Information
Flair and Dragonfly in Margriet have partnered with independent, renowned doctors to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the information presented. Gynecologist Dorenda van Dijken and cardiologist Janneke Wittekoek are among the specialists contributing to the series. This collaboration aims to provide women with evidence-based knowledge they can trust.
“Scientific research in healthcare has been based on men for years, while women are built differently and as well have different complaints,” explains van Dijken. “These videos bring extra attention to women’s health, and that will hopefully spark conversations. That is so important.”
Wittekoek adds, “Not all menopausal women are aware of certain risk factors and, for example, do not know that they should regularly have their blood pressure, cholesterol and waist circumference checked.”
A Commitment to Responsible Journalism
Hilmar Mulder, editor-in-chief, emphasizes the responsibility that comes with a large audience. “Our enormous reach also entails a responsibility, such as our initiative to make reliable medical knowledge accessible to women. Last month we presented an extra thick edition of Libelle, completely focused on living with cancer. Four oncologists assisted the editors to ensure that all information was correct and understandable.”
