Fujifilm Expands 4K Broadcast Zoom Lens Lineup with New Models

VALHALLA, N.Y.—Fujifilm North America Corporation has announced the immediate availability of the FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD (“UA22x4.8”) 4K broadcast zoom lens, with shipping beginning by the end of April 2026. The company also revealed development plans for three additional 4K broadcast zoom lenses – the UA16x4BERD (“UA16x4”), UA30x7.3BERD (“UA30x7.3”), and UA94x8.7BESM – slated for release in fall 2026 and spring 2027. Fujifilm initially announced the UA22x4.8 on March 18, 2026.

UA22x4.8: Versatility for Modern Broadcast Needs

The UA22x4.8 is designed for lightweight versatility, making it suitable for a wide range of production scenarios, including news gathering, studio work, and live sports broadcasts. It’s a portable zoom lens compatible with 2/3-inch sensor broadcast cameras, offering a focal range of 4.8mm to 106mm. The lens measures 9.9 inches (251mm) in length and weighs 4.8 pounds (2.17kg). American Cinematographer reports the lens achieves 4K optical performance across the entire zoom range, with a multi-layer HT-EBC coating ensuring high light transmittance and accurate color reproduction.

According to Stosh Durbacz, vice president of Sales, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Optical Devices Division, the UA22x4.8 builds upon the success of the UA18x5.5BERD (“UA18x5.5”) released in 2017, offering a compact size, light weight, and versatile focal length while expanding the wide and telephoto range for enhanced functionality. Fujifilm has reduced the lens’s weight and size compared to the UA18x5.5 through improvements in lens processing technology and a focus on durable, lightweight construction.

Future Lens Developments

Fujifilm is also developing three additional 4K broadcast zoom lenses to further cater to the evolving needs of the professional video industry:

• Fujinon UA16x4BERD (“UA16x4”): Designed to achieve an extended wide-angle range and high zoom ratio in a compact and lightweight body.
• Fujinon UA30x7.3BERD (“UA30x7.3”): Also focused on an extended wide-angle range and high zoom ratio within a compact form factor.
• UA94x8.7BESM: A versatile box zoom lens for 2/3-inch sensor broadcast cameras, covering a wide focal range from 8.7mm to 818mm. It features a proprietary image stabilization system.

Durbacz stated that the UA16x4, and UA30x7.3 will support a wide range of framing options for sports broadcasts, concerts, and live events, while the UA94x8.7 offers a balance between high production quality, versatility, and cost-effectiveness. Newsshooter notes that the UA94x8.7 will be released in fall 2026, with the UA30x7.3 and UA16x4 following in spring 2027.
