Head coach Kirby Smart’s squad enters the new campaign with a heavily fortified roster, headlined by quarterback competition developments, key returning contributors, and a wave of notable physical transformations across multiple position groups.

Quarterback Rotation and Offensive Group Standouts

Under center, the quarterback room featured a steady rotation during routes on air. According to observations from Sports Illustrated, Gunner Stockton led the group while Ryan Puglisi displayed noticeably improved confidence and accuracy compared to prior years, maintaining a comfortable pace throughout individual periods. Freshman Ryan Montgomery participated actively in a knee brace, serving as the third thrower during individual drills.

In the backfield, sophomore Nate Frazier anchors the running back room, while the search continues for a secondary feature option. Roderick Robinson returned as a full participant alongside Chauncey Bowens and large transfer addition Josh McRay. At tight end, Colton Heinrench returned to full participation following an injury-plagued freshman campaign, and freshman Elyiss William showed noticeable lower-body weight gain. Among wide receivers, freshman Tyler Williams impressed physically after missing spring practices with an ankle injury, while Zechariah Branch flashed explosive playmaking ability with the ball in his hands.

Defensive Line Depth and Linebacker Adjustments

The defensive trenches feature significant physical upgrades, anchored by Christen Miller. According to Sports Illustrated, Miller approaches 310 pounds as the clear leader of the defensive line unit, which also includes Joshua Horton wearing No. 81 and a well-conditioned Xavier McLeod, with Nmadi Ogboko emerging at nose tackle. The EDGE room gained considerable depth and size this offseason through additions like Elo Modozie and Isaiah Gibson, joining returning contributors such as Gabe Harris.

At inside linebacker, CJ Allen and Raylen Wilson continue to steer the deepest unit on the field. Justin Williams added substantial weight to approach the 225-pound mark, while Chris Cole expanded his role to include rushing the passer, and Kristopher Jones transitioned to a full-time EDGE role.

Secondary Battles and Camp Outlook

The defensive secondary features open competition across multiple spots opposite returning contributors. At safety, Kyron Jones, Zion Branch, and JaCorey Thomas are locked in a battle for the starting role opposite KJ Bolden, who added weight during the offseason. The cornerback rotation remains fluid, featuring Daylen Everette, Daniel Harris, Ellis Robinson, and DeMello Jones as primary names to watch alongside standout newcomer Dominick Kelly.
