remembering Ger: A Festivity of Life and legacy
It is with deep sorrow that we announce teh passing of Ger, peacefully at University Hospital Galway on January 13th, 2026. A resident of Ballysimon road, Limerick, and formerly of Athea, Co. Limerick,ger leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Throughout his career, Ger contributed his talents to Krups, AST, and Flakt Group in Dublin, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industries he served. He will be remembered as a dedicated professional and a valued member of the working community.
More importantly, Ger was a beloved husband to Sheena, a dearly loved father to Aoife, Róisin, and Michael, and a cherished grandfather to Bowie. He was a much-loved son of Bridget and the late Michael, and is sadly missed by his mother and father-in-law, Rena and John Purcell, along with a wide circle of relatives and friends.
Funeral Arrangements:
Reposing will take place at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, on Friday, January 16th, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Cathedral, Cathedral Place, on Saturday, January 17th, at 12 noon, followed by a private cremation. for those unable to attend in person, Ger’s Requiem Mass will be live-streamed; details will be available shortly.
The family respectfully requests that their privacy be respected at this arduous time and asks that the house remain strictly private.
Donations in lieu of Flowers:
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ger’s memory to Inis Aoibhinn Galway or Cancer Care West, reflecting his compassion and support for those in need.
