Zootopia 2 Leads Box Office, Animation Remains a Force in 2026

Moviegoers continued to flock to theaters this weekend, with a particular appeal for fresh releases and a strong showing from German productions. Zootopia 2 has demonstrated the continued draw of animated films, becoming the highest-grossing Hollywood hit of 2025, surpassing even Avatar 3: Fire And Ash. This momentum continues into 2026, as evidenced by the current box office charts.

Box Office Highlights: February 19-23, 2026

GOAT – Keen to Jump, an original animated sports film released on February 19, 2026, debuted at number one with approximately 195,000 tickets sold. Woodwalkers 2 secured second place, reaching a total of 915,000 tickets sold and exceeding the lifetime ticket sales of its predecessor.

The drama Wuthering Heights – Sturmhöhe landed in third place, selling an additional 120,000 tickets in its second weekend. This remake of Emily Brontë’s classic delivered the second-best opening for a Hollywood film in 2026 and marked the best career start for director Emerald Fennell and star Jacob Elordi. It shares the third-place position with Simon Verhoeven’s Oh, this gap, this terrible gap, which saw an 11% increase in viewership, attracting another 120,000 moviegoers.

The Housemaid – If She Knew maintained a strong presence in fourth place, with 110,000 admissions in its sixth week, becoming the most successful film in director Paul Feig’s career. The comedy Extrawurst followed in fifth, selling an additional 105,000 tickets.

Rounding out the top ten were The Three ??? – Island of the Dead, The Elders, Checker Tobi 3 – The Secret Ruler of the Earth, and Zootopia 2, each adding around 75,000 tickets. Both The Three ??? – Island of the Dead and Checker Tobi 3 surpassed the one-million-ticket milestone last weekend.
