1,316.50 Euros in Unauthorized Charges

Twin sisters Alessandra and Valentina Giudicessa, known for their roles in the comedy film Like a cat on the ring road, stand trial in Rome for allegedly stealing a credit card from a customer at a supermarket and making three unauthorized transactions totaling 1,316.50 euros. The disputed events occurred on October 21, 2017, just months before the film directed by Riccardo Milani arrived in cinemas.

Prosecutor Andrea Beccia contests charges of aggravated theft in conspiracy and fraudulent use of the credit card against the two sisters. Nine years after the initial incident, the case sits before the Tribunal of Rome as the judicial system weighs whether the defendants bear responsibility for the supermarket theft.

From Cinema Successes to Courtroom Proceedings

The Giudicessa sisters gained public attention portraying Pamela and Sue Allen, the twin sisters of the character played by Paola Cortellesi. Their spontaneous screen presence and unconventional acting style propelled them into the 2017 hit and its 2021 sequel, Like a Cat on a Ring Road – Return to Coccia di Morto.

During an appearance on Francesca Fagnani’s television program Beasts Crime, Alessandra Giudicessa addressed the aftermath of their cinematic debut, stating that the money ran out immediately and that people who watched the film remembered actual thefts from their past, leading to a wave of new police reports.

Court records show that this case is not an isolated legal challenge for the sisters. In 2019, a court convicted them in the first instance to one year of imprisonment for attempting to steal 18 items of clothing worth 4,794 euros from a boutique in the Eur district on December 13, 2017, using a distraction method where one sister diverted the sales clerk while the other hid the garments.

Late November Verdict Scheduled

The judge presiding over the 2017 supermarket credit card case will deliver a final verdict by the end of November 2026, concluding a judicial process that spans nearly a decade. The court determines guilt regarding the three fraudulent transactions executed on the day of the theft.
