Gnarls Barkley Announces First New Album in 18 Years, ‘Atlanta’

Gnarls Barkley, the celebrated soul duo comprised of CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse, is set to release their first new studio album in 18 years, titled Atlanta, on March 6 via 10k Projects . The announcement comes with the release of their lead single, “Pictures,” marking their first new studio release since 2008’s The Odd Couple.

Inspiration Behind “Pictures”

“Pictures” draws inspiration from CeeLo Green’s childhood experiences riding the MARTA public transit system in Atlanta. Green shared in a press statement that a middle school principal encouraged him to take the train every Friday, leading him to spend hours traveling alone.

Solo Ventures and Recent Function

Since The Odd Couple, both Green and Danger Mouse have pursued successful solo careers. Green released his sixth studio album, CeeLo Green is Thomas Calloway, in 2020, following Heart Blanche (2015) and CeeLo’s Magic Moment (2012). He similarly served as a judge on The Voice and collaborated with artists such as Eminem, Tyrese, T.I., and Asher Roth.

Danger Mouse has been prolific in collaborative projects, working with Sparklehorse, Daniele Luppi, and Karen O. His most recent release was the album Cheat Codes with Black Thought in 2022, and he also shared the single “Wonder” with Grandmother in August 2025.
