OGC Nice: Pantaloni Reacts After 5-2 Win Against Rennes and Elye Wahi’s Hat-Trick

OGC Nice Defeats Stade Rennais in Five-Goal Match

OGC Nice secured a 5-2 victory against Stade Rennais during the ninth matchday of the Ligue 1 season, powered by a hat-trick from striker Elye Wahi. The win lifted Nice past the league’s second-place side in an offensive display that head coach Olivier Pantaloni described as his team’s most complete performance of the campaign, according to ogcnice.com.

While Pantaloni praised the squad’s energy and tactical execution, the club’s broader ambitions remain modest. Nice has now recorded wins against Lille, Strasbourg, and Rennes alongside a draw with Lyon, positioning the team comfortably near the middle of the table. Despite the strong run of form, Pantaloni insisted it is too early to adjust pre-season survival and mid-table targets, noting that any discussion of higher goals will wait until the spring.

Elye Wahi Drives the Attack and Sets Up Jonathan Clauss

Elye Wahi anchored the victory by scoring three goals and adding an assist on Jonathan Clauss’s strike, which came after Wahi recovered possession in the opposing half. Pantaloni highlighted Wahi as a constant threat to opposing defenses but noted that the forward still misses chances and needs to reduce turnovers to maximize his impact.

The attacking unit as a whole showed improved technical precision, though Pantaloni pointed out that occasional ball losses remain an issue to correct.
