Alisa’s Hearing Loss and Emotional Exit from Germany’s Next Topmodel

In episode 10 of Germany’s Next Topmodel (GNTM), Alisa faced significant challenges during a photoshoot with Kristian Schuller, leading to her emotional exit from the competition. The 27-year-old model explained that her performance was impacted by hearing loss, a condition she has had since childhood, and ADHD. Following her elimination, Alisa shared a detailed statement on Instagram, clarifying her experience and hoping to provide context for viewers.

Challenges During the Photoshoot

Despite her initial positive attitude, Alisa struggled to find suitable poses during the shoot. Both Heidi Klum and Kristian Schuller expressed their dissatisfaction with her performance. After the photoshoot, Alisa explained that she had difficulty understanding instructions due to her hearing impairment. She initially stated she was “almost deaf,” a phrasing she later clarified was not the most accurate way to describe her condition.

Hearing Loss and ADHD

Alisa revealed she experienced 70 percent hearing loss as a child, which improved after surgery but was not fully restored. While she manages well in everyday life, she finds it more challenging in high-pressure situations like a photoshoot, particularly when the photographer is at a distance. She as well attributes some of her difficulties to ADHD, which she previously disclosed earlier in the season, causing overstimulation and difficulty processing instructions during the shoot.

Clarification on Instagram

After her elimination, Alisa took to Instagram to elaborate on her experience, aiming to provide a better understanding of the circumstances surrounding her performance. She emphasized that television often presents a limited view of reality and that there is a real person with genuine emotions behind every scene.

Heidi Klum’s Reaction

Heidi Klum expressed surprise at Alisa’s revelation about her hearing loss, stating she was unaware of the extent of the issue and had always received feedback from Alisa during their interactions. Klum noted Alisa appeared tense and overwhelmed during the photoshoot.

The Decision Walk and Elimination

Alisa attempted to demonstrate her best performance during the decision walk, showcasing a designer dress. However, she failed to convince the judges. Guest juror Maria Koch criticized her for appearing tense and lacking a “sexy” quality. Heidi Klum decided not to give Alisa a photo, leading to her elimination from the competition.
