Production is underway in Vancouver, Canada, for Amazon Prime Video’s live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise God of War, with four new actors joining the cast. The series, which already has a two-season order, is drawing from the storylines of the 2018 God of War game and its sequel.

Ben Chapple (“Playing For Keeps”) will play Magni, the eldest son of Thor and Sif, described as handsome, adventurous, and a skilled hunter. Louis Cunningham (“Marie Antoinette”) will play Modi, the middle child, characterized as gentle and intellectually curious. Island Austin (“Insidious 6”) will portray Thrud, the youngest child, described as precocious, fearless, and a peacemaker.

Evelyn Miller (“Gangs Of London”) joins the cast as Gna, Odin’s leader of the Valkyries, a fearless and loyal warrior.

Role Significance

Cunningham and Austin will have larger, recurring roles in the series, while Chapple and Miller will appear in smaller, recurring capacities.

Production Details and Release Timeline

The series follows Kratos (Ryan Hurst) and his son Atreus (Callum Vinson) as they journey to spread the ashes of Faye, Atreus’ mother. The story will explore the complex father-son dynamic central to the video games, focusing on Kratos teaching Atreus to be a better god, while Atreus attempts to guide his father towards greater humanity.

Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Outlander”) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Frederick E.O. Toye is directing the first two episodes. A release on Amazon Prime Video is anticipated in 2027.
