Google Celebrates Black History Month wiht New Features and Content
Google is marking Black History Month with a series of initiatives designed to amplify Black voices and celebrate Black contributions across its platforms.The festivity includes new content and features across youtube, Google Play, Google TV, Chrome, google Meet, Search, Maps, and Google Arts & Culture.
A new Doodle music video,featuring a custom track by Illa J,kicks off the month-long observance. The video spotlights the innovative art of hip-hop beat making and the techniques producers use for mixing and looping sound.
Google Play is hosting a dedicated hub showcasing curated collections of apps, games, and books created by Black developers and creators, alongside special Black History Month events. Google TV users can explore collections honoring Black genius and strength, encompassing past figures, Afrofuturist science fiction, and free live TV channels. YouTube will also be celebrating with content from creators and artists within the Black community through its social channels.
These new launches build upon Google’s existing efforts, including the Chrome Black Artists Series, the return of the Black History Month background in Google Meet, enhanced visibility for Black-owned businesses in Google Search and Maps, and immersive stories available through google Arts & Culture’s Black History and Culture project.
