Google Find Hub Streamlines Device Tracking, Partners with Airlines for Lost Luggage Assistance

Google’s Find Hub, formerly known as Find My Device, is evolving to offer a more seamless user experience. In March 2026, Google removed the requirement for biometric or PIN authentication to access connected devices within the Find Hub app [9to5Google]. This change aims to simplify the process of locating and managing devices, but may raise security considerations for users who share their devices.

Easier Access to Connected Devices

Previously, Find Hub required biometric confirmation for security reasons. Now, users can view all compatible products linked to their Google account without this extra step. Even as Google states this change should be safe as the phone itself needs to be unlocked first, users sharing devices should be aware of the increased accessibility [9to5Google].

Real-Time Location Sharing via Google Messages

Find Hub’s functionality extends to Google Messages, offering real-time location sharing. This feature, which began rolling out in late February 2026, goes beyond the existing static Google Maps link sharing option [9to5Google]. Users can now share their location in real-time with a specified duration, viewable as a map within the Google Messages conversation. The “Real-time location” option, indicated in green, is accessible through the attachments menu.

Find Hub Integrates with Airlines to Locate Lost Luggage

A significant new feature of Find Hub is its integration with several airlines to help track lost luggage. If luggage is equipped with a Find Hub tracker, users can share a link with participating airlines through their mobile app or website [9to5Google]. Sharing can be stopped at any time, and links automatically expire after seven days. Find Hub will also automatically disable sharing when the tracker detects the item has been recovered.

Participating Airlines

Google has partnered with the following airlines for this lost luggage tracking feature:

  • Ajet
  • Air India
  • China Airlines
  • Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss International Airlines)
  • Saudia Airlines
  • Scandinavian Airlines
  • Turkish Airlines

Qantas will add support in the future [9to5Google].

Samsonite Integration

Google is also collaborating with Samsonite to embed Find Hub technology directly into their latest suitcase designs. Compatible Samsonite suitcases will be ready to pair with the Find Hub network out of the box, providing enhanced tracking capabilities for travelers [9to5Google].

Getting Started with Find Hub

Find Hub is designed to help locate, ring, or remotely wipe a device if lost or stolen [Google Find Hub]. The recent updates aim to make these features even more accessible and useful for users.
