Google Opens Limited Enrollment for Pixel Device Protection Plans

Google has launched a limited-time open enrollment period for Pixel Care+ protection, allowing owners of select Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series devices to add coverage even if they missed the standard 60-day post-purchase window. The program covers accidental damage, including screen cracks and spills, and provides priority technical support for eligible devices through August 2.

Eligibility and Enrollment Requirements

The open enrollment window applies to the standard Pixel 9 and 10 lineups, including the 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and 10a models. Notably, Google has excluded the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 10 Pro Fold from this offer.

To qualify for coverage, devices must be free of pre-existing conditions. According to the Google Store, owners must certify that their hardware does not exhibit:

Eligibility and Enrollment Requirements
  • Cracked or shattered front screens or back glass.
  • Signs of liquid damage or internal moisture.
  • Mechanical or electrical failures affecting buttons, charging ports, or other internal components.
  • Swollen batteries or current device failure.

Additionally, devices that were previously enrolled in a Pixel Care+, Preferred Care, or Google Fi Device Protection plan are ineligible for this specific enrollment period.

Coverage Details and Financial Terms

Pixel Care+ provides comprehensive protection against accidental damage, including unlimited repairs for drops, cracks, and spills. The plan features a $0 deductible for front screen and back glass repairs, as well as battery replacements if the capacity drops below 80% of its original performance.

The program also includes unlimited $0 claims for post-warranty malfunctions. When a claim is approved, Google states that replacement devices typically ship the next business day, subject to regional inventory availability.

Pricing varies by device model and whether the owner chooses a monthly subscription or a two-year upfront payment:

Google Pixel 11 Pro XL – Official Launch Date, Tensor G6 & Everything We Know
Device Monthly Coverage 2-Year Coverage
Pixel 10a / 9a $6 $119
Pixel 10 / 9 $9 / $8 $179 / $159
Pixel 10 Pro & Pro XL $13 $239
Pixel 9 Pro & Pro XL $12 $199

Geographic Availability

This open enrollment offer is currently restricted to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Interested owners can initiate the enrollment process directly through the Google Store interface. The window remains open until August 2, after which the standard 60-day enrollment policy for new purchases will return to effect. Owners should verify their device’s current condition carefully before enrolling, as coverage is contingent upon the hardware passing the functional requirements specified by Google.
