Google Phone’s Calling Cards: Personalize Your Calls

Google is rolling out a new feature for the Phone app called Calling Cards, allowing users to personalize how they appear when making or receiving calls. This feature lets you create a custom full-screen image that will be displayed to recipients, similar to the call screen customization options available on iPhones.

What are Calling Cards?

Calling Cards enable users to express their unique style with a custom calling screen. The feature displays a full-screen image to the person you’re calling or who is calling you, adding a personal touch to phone conversations. This functionality is available when your phone is locked, during incoming calls, and when making outgoing calls. The image can too be used as a contact photo.

How to Set Up a Calling Card

To create a Calling Card, you’ll need to be using version 182 or later of the Phone app. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Open the Phone app on your Android device.
  2. Tap “Receive started” or navigate to Settings &gt. Calling card.
  3. Link your Google account.
  4. Choose a photo from your device:
    • Google Photos: Tap Google Photos to select an image.
    • Camera: Tap Camera to capture a new photo.
    • Gallery: Tap Gallery to choose from your existing photos.
  5. Adjust the photo’s position, scale, and add effects by tapping “Effects.”
  6. Customize the font and text color by tapping “Font.”
  7. Choose who sees your Calling Card:
    • Only your contacts
    • Everyone you talk to
  8. Tap “Save.”

Updating Your Calling Card

You can easily update your Calling Card at any time:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Open the contact you seek to update.
  3. Tap Edit > Change > Change calling card.
  4. Follow the same steps as above to choose a new photo and customize the appearance.
  5. Tap “Save.”

Customization Options

As noted in a Reddit post from August 15, 2025, Google’s Calling Cards offer customization options for fonts and colors, allowing for a truly personalized experience.

Availability

The rollout of Calling Cards began with beta version 211 of the Phone by Google app, and requires a server-side component to be enabled. A YouTube video published on September 24, 2025, details the setup process, noting that the Google Phone app must be updated to version 188 or later to apply the feature. See the tutorial here.
