Google has rolled out two new Workspace updates that let educators export Gemini-built interactive apps directly to Google Sites and track student engagement through AI-powered insight summaries in Google Classroom. Published by the Google Workspace team on 19 October, the features eliminate the need for manual code embedding while giving teachers deeper visibility into how students interact with assigned digital tools.
The first update addresses a common friction point in prototyping educational tools. Building a quiz, calculator, or dashboard in Gemini no longer requires copying and pasting raw code to share it on the web. As Android Authority reported, users can now select Export > Google Sites to send their interactive app straight into a new private site draft. The app remains fully interactive inside Google Sites, allowing teachers or teams to customize the surrounding page and publish it without rebuilding the experience elsewhere.
Google Classroom Integration Adds Engagement Summaries for Gemini Notebooks
For classrooms utilizing teacher-led Gemini Notebooks, Google introduced automated insight summaries designed to gauge instructional value. Teachers can view overall student engagement metrics alongside recurring questions, student strengths, and suggested areas for support. Instructors also retain the ability to review individual student chat transcripts for added context.

Google stated that this functionality applies exclusively to Gemini Notebooks assigned through Google Classroom. Students receive an automatic notification making clear that their conversations in assigned notebooks are visible to their teacher. To support cross-domain collaboration, Google Workspace administrators can now manage external sharing for Gemini Notebooks through granular controls in the Admin console, including trusted domain approvals.
Insight summaries are rolling out across Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus editions, with support for Gemini LTI users scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks. The underlying external sharing controls are already active for administrators.
