Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Finalizes Vaccination Plan for 1,600 Hajj Pilgrims The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has finalized arrangements for the vaccination of approximately 1,600 intending pilgrims from the state ahead of the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. The initiative aims to meet international health standards and ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience for participants. According to Board Secretary AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, the vaccination programme includes essential vaccines for meningitis, oral polio, yellow fever, and influenza, in compliance with global travel health regulations and requirements set by Saudi authorities. The exercise is designed to safeguard public health and maintain Lagos State’s strong track record in Hajj operations. The vaccination rollout is scheduled to begin on Monday at the Shamsi Adisa Thomas Mosque Hall, First Secretariat, GRA, Ikeja, and will proceed on a local government basis. Intending pilgrims from Agege and Somolu will start the exercise, followed by those from Ajeromi, Apapa, and Ojo on April 21. Participants from Alimosho, Amuwo-Odofin, and Badagry are slated for April 22. Pilgrims from Ikeja, Oshodi-Isolo, Mushin, and Surulere will be attended to on Thursday, while those from Ikorodu, Eti-Osa, Kosofe, and Epe are scheduled for April 27. The exercise will continue on April 28 for pilgrims from Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, JAIZ, NIA, and Royal groups, before concluding on April 29 with the vaccination of government officials at the same venue. Ajomagberin urged full compliance, emphasizing that proof of vaccination is mandatory for participation in the pilgrimage as required by both Saudi Arabian authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He called for the cooperation of Port Health Services Nigeria officials to ensure the seamless conduct of the exercise. The carefully scheduled, local government-based rollout demonstrates the administration’s attention to detail and commitment to efficiency, ensuring smooth coordination and accessibility for all participants. This proactive approach highlights the government’s dedication to protecting citizens while upholding excellence in service delivery.
