Goyang Sono celebrated their third founding anniversary on September 12, 2026, by pairing a regional environmental cleanup with a fan-friendly team bonding event, according to an official club announcement released on September 14, 2026. The KBL club combined forces with their fan base, known as Winners, to clear street litter around Goyang Sono Arena and Daehwa Station ahead of the upcoming professional basketball season.

The annual community initiative, named “Screen,” carries a dual meaning for the organization. According to Goyang Sono, the title combines a reference to the Skygunners’ cleanup efforts (“Skygunners Clean!”) with the tactical basketball screen play that relies on teamwork between the players and their supporters. Club officials structured the anniversary program to reinforce community ties rather than hosting a standard celebratory gathering.

“As an anniversary event, ‘Screen’ is planned not merely as a recreational gathering, but as a corporate social responsibility activity for a sports team,” said Goyang Sono administrative manager Hwang Myung-ho, according to the club’s statement. “With many fans joining us for the third year, this has become a truly meaningful time, and we will continue to pursue programs that foster mutual growth between the club, fans, and the local community.”

Community Cleanup and Fan Bonding Activities in Goyang

The itinerary began with 16 players and 80 participating fans collecting discarded waste across commercial districts near Goyang Sono Arena and Line 3’s Daehwa Station. Following the outdoor maintenance work, the group relocated to the Goyang Sono Arena auxiliary gymnasium for structured recreation designed to build camaraderie.

Participants shared boxed lunches to connect in a relaxed setting before concluding the schedule with an exit high-five event where the roster lined up to send off the departing Winners supporters. Team captain Jung Hee-jae noted that the annual pre-season cleaning routine helps focus the squad ahead of competitive play while bridging the gap with their audience.

“Every year before the season starts, the team and the Winners clean our home arena surroundings together, which helps us gather our minds for the upcoming season,” Jung said, as reported by BasketKorea. “It was meaningful to spend time with the Winners after a long while, and playing recreation together gave the players a real boost. Eating lunch and talking together made us feel much closer.”

Pre-Season Preparation Ahead of KBL Opening

For attending supporters, the integration of community service and direct player interaction provided a memorable introduction to the team’s autumn schedule. First-time participant Jang Ju-hee, 27, highlighted the value of direct encouragement.

“It was my first time joining the event, and it was great to get to know the players better and personally tell them to cheer up for the season preparations,” Jang told BasketKorea. “I will diligently visit the stadium this season and cheer like a true Winner.”

Following a brief rest period after returning to club duties on September 14, 2026, Goyang Sono traveled to the Yongin Mabuk Gymnasium on September 17, 2026. The squad contested their final pre-season practice match against Busan KCC to complete their tactical preparations before league play commences.
