Grab Indonesia Addresses Increased Wait Times for Services Amid Rising Demand
Jakarta – Grab Indonesia acknowledged reports of longer wait times for its services, particularly in Jakarta and surrounding areas, in recent days. The company attributes the increased wait times to a surge in demand for mobility and delivery services coinciding with factors impacting driver availability.
Tyas Widyastuti, Director of Mobility, Food, & Logistics at Grab Indonesia, stated that demand for services like GrabExpress and GrabFood has risen significantly. This increase in demand has been compounded by challenges to driver availability, including extreme rainy weather causing flooding and higher-than-usual traffic congestion. Recent events have also highlighted the importance of driver welfare and service stability.
Grab’s operational team is implementing adjustments to stabilize driver availability and maintain service quality. These adjustments focus on balancing service demand with the number of available driver partners, especially in high-demand areas. The company is continuously monitoring the situation and making operational changes to optimize services for users, merchants, and partners, particularly as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr approach – periods typically marked by increased service demand.
“We continue to be committed to ensuring that all our services can be used optimally by users while still prioritizing safety aspects for driver partners, merchant partners and users, especially in the lead up to Eid al-Fitr,” Widyastuti explained.
Tyas Widyastuti also holds the position of Director of Operations for Jabodetabek, Grab Indonesia. She expressed hope that recent resolutions to passenger-driver disputes will contribute to a more stable service environment.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Tyas Widyastuti is Director of 2-Wheels and Logistics – Indonesia at Grab.
