GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics announced on October 26, 2026, that they are expanding their humanoid robotics partnership to new warehouse sites in North Carolina and Tennessee starting in early 2027, finance.yahoo.com reported. The agreement scales up a collaboration that began with a 2024 deployment at a live warehouse in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
Deployment to North Carolina and Tennessee Facilities Scheduled for Early 2027
Under the expanded agreement, Agility Robotics will deploy its Digit humanoid robot to GXO facilities in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee, to support e-commerce fulfillment operations. The new deployments will begin with Digit 4 models in early 2027 and will migrate to the newer Digit 5 system once it becomes commercially available. At these sites, the robots will handle repetitive material-handling tasks, such as moving totes and placing them onto conveyors alongside existing automation equipment.
Building on the Flowery Branch Pilot and Robots-as-a-Service Model
The upcoming expansion builds on a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement signed in June 2024. That initial arrangement marked the industry’s first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots in active logistics operations. During operations at the Flowery Branch facility, Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes while utilizing Agility Arc, the cloud-based platform used to manage robot fleets and integrate them into customer workflows. Across all commercial operations and customer programs, Digit has accumulated more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation.
Manufacturing Scale and Upcoming Public Listing Plans
To support growing commercial adoption, Agility Robotics has established a 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility named RoboFab in Salem, Oregon, which is designed to reach an annual production capacity of up to 10,000 robots. The company has also expanded its software, deployment, and service infrastructure with a presence in Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Agility Robotics is preparing to become a public company through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 under the Nasdaq ticker symbol AGLT, according to registration statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
